Hi all,
Having a few problems that I'm sure someone will be able to help me with. A couple of months ago my bike started intermittently not starting on the button, one week it would be fine and the next press the ignition and nothing happens. Then a few weeks ago nothing. I can still bump start it no problem. I checked the solenoid thinking that maybe the problem and thought it was when i shorted it and the bike turned over fine. So i bought a new solenoid and fitted it this morning, pressed the button and still nothing dead. Does anyone have any idea what it could be? Thanks in advance

All the lights come on no problem and when i jump the solenoid the starter motor spins as fast as I remember it after long rides could the battery still not be outputting enough power?

Forgive me if im being stupid but if the side stand switch or clutch switch were the problem wouldnt it start with sidestand up and clutch in ? I just checked the side stand switch, cleaned all the crap off it and unplugged it. Then used a wire to connect the two terminals in the bit where it plugs into the switch and still nothing?? I did think it could be a failure in the right hand switch controls but then the lights and kill switch still work?

Ill try jumping it off the Mrs car when she gets home from work, that should rule out the battery if it still doesn't start? Like I say though I used a screwdriver to short the solenoid and it fired up instantly no problems.

Did you get to the bottom of your problem mate? I've just picked up a H1 SP with exactly the same fault, starter button does nothing, but spins straight up when I short the starter solenoid with either a new battery or jump leads hooked up...any pointers??

yes, either a dead starter solenoid, or bad contacts/wiring in and around your starter button...cant be anything else.

Lovely, cheers for that mate...I'll give it a look! I did think possible side stand switch fault, but I'm assuming that shouldn't have any effect while the bike's out of gear and registering a positive neutral?

i have removed my sidestand and clutch "safety" switches as they cause more hassle than they are worth.
