Took 5 mins to get her going..

Went out for a good ride on monday but it took me like literally 5 minutes to get the bike going from cold. Call me a dumbass but i'm still not entirely sure on the proper way to use the choke so i don't know if it was me, or the bike, or a bit of both.
When i hit the button it was trying to turn over and i was giving it a bit of throttle and had the choke say half way open, and nothing, it just kept juddering and cutting out, i didnt know whether i was flooding the engine or what, but after 5 mins of pissin about she finally sprung to life and i adjusted the idle speed to keep her running.
Am i just using the wrong technique to start from cold or what? Or is it the bike? I could just do with a bit of advise on cold starting
Cheers.

every bike is different. but...
general idea - only about 1/3rd choke, no throttle, should fire.
got to learn with your own bike mate, as i said, they're all a bit different

Well i thought actually that it would probably be different for everyone like. I've tried a few tecniques and seem to be getting better. If i carry on having problems do you reckon new spark plugs might be a good start to help solve the issue?

Oh, try a shot of Redex in the fuel tank and run that through on a short trip, always worth a try that stuff as it cleans out the fuel system

i believe rob has shares in redex. as for the spark plugs stick with the cr9e type, then its dependand on money (think these are the right letters)
CR9E single tip electrode (cheapest)
CR9E-K split tip
CR9E-IX iridium (dearest)
the CR9E-K is the stock spark plug

There are rumours........
Yup all those plugs will work. To get to the plugs youll need to get the tank and airbox off. Theres a guide in the workshop area on how to do that

Excellent. Nice one. She's still abit hit and miss to get her going from cold but i'm getting the knack for it. I'll try new plugs when i've got some dosh.
