Seen a 1992 UK reg ZXR400 in green with the seat unit which has the white racing number background on it, can't see it on the model specs, does anyone know which model this is?
Cheers
Rob

If it's standard paint job it could be an sp

Thanks Miles, seat unit is exactly the same as the one in the pic with the dual seat as well, so maybe a rarer standard paint job?

Possible, best way to know for sure is too put up a pic of the bike. Be able to tell you straight away then if it's a standard paint job but if it's the same as the one above then it is not.

That's the other half of the fairing lying behind the bike as well! Engine doesn't run and needs work and I was just wondering if it was worth the hassle

Yeh that's not a factory paint job. Original exhaust can though.

As for the engine it just depends. Loads of stories of people just cleaning the carbs and the engine firing up, but equal stories of it being toad.

Need to find out as much about the bike as possible and why it's not running in the first place.

Don't look to bad that chap,if its been standing its probably only carbs need cleaning/rebuild to get it going, but check EVERYTHING....also check brakes and suspension bearings...but nice bike...

the nose fairing on that bike is not attached to the RHS panel correctly if you have a look, its also missing its airtubes, i wonder if its been raced and put back into road use?

i wouls remove the front panels and have a look at the connection between radiator and oil cooler as these commonly indicate a crash if broken.

also take off the main seat and inspect some of the electrics...take off the LHS rear panes if you can and have a look at the rest of the electrics if you can as well, look for chopped looms, also check the wiring into the headlights, it should be cable tied to the curved front metal fairing stay if its an original un-molested loom.

Evening gents,

I have just stumbled over this post, i have ended up with this bike, i have completely stripped it, had any bits powder coated that could be powder coated and have started on the rebuild.

Engine was stripped tonight , found very little damage, cylinder 3 has not been firing , said piston for the cylinder has a little chuck out of it as well, which i haven't found, sump was full of metal but i am yet to find any significant bearing damage to warrant the amount of glitter in the oil??

il try post pics of the progress in my build thread.

Oh ! Its also not a UK model but a Jap import 93 model

Nice one jimmymc, did you get the engine running before you stripped it, I like the paint job as well, is it original paint. Always a good idea to drop the sump when you don't know the history. Be great to see some pics of the build, I was seriously considering buying this bike but I haven't finished my other one yet!
Cheers
