jst bought a set of fairins, has some cracks, bt i dont mined fixin nd sprayin it myself. bt wats the process, isit the same as u would on a car? bt a car is metal, nd these fairins r plastics, except the tank. wat primer nd glue do i use? i believ the spray/paint is the same. nd after the glue setles, do i still use paper to smooth it over, nd wat type/grade? the odd chips nd scrapes im not too bothered bout, jst the main cracks, as ill b sprayin it all over ne ways.

also the tank iv noticed has rust inside, wat do i do b4 usin it, as in puttin in petrol, how do i clean it?

bare in mined most stuff ill b buyin will b frm halfords, as its more easy to get to, convinient nd availability, tho the staff rnt that helpful at times, especially wen u mension that its for a bike.

ne help nd advise would b great.

halfords do a plastic repair kit for fairings, its about £13 but they are good, i used it on my zxr, alternatively you can use a hot solder gun and a plastic coat hanger.

Plastech/Plastex is rather good. It's not particularly cheap but it will give you a sandable, paintable repair that's stronger than the original plastic. It was recommended to me by a friend who used it to fix a crack in a plastic fuel tank.

M and P sell it, although they don't half rip you off for postage.

You spray your bike plastics EXACTLY the same as you would a car.. except you will use a plastic primer on the plastics, and a normal etch primer on the tank.

So for your plastics, your take them back sliky smooth, plastic prime then grey/white prime, basecoat and then your laquer.

Go to this site.. http://www.paints4u.com/ . Have a look around and then send an email, they are extremely polite and reply within a few hours. Just ask them what paint, how much, and prep stuff.. guns, masks, cleaners.. they sell the lot. Tell you how to do it, what size CFM your compressor would require for a particular gun.

Hope this helps
