Fan not working..

After replacing a fork seal and rebuilding the front end my fan just won't work anymore
I've connected everything the same as when i took it apart, and have checked again today but just can't get it to come on.
It isn't seized as it spins freely by hand.
What should i be checking, and how would I short circuit it to make sure the fan itself is working...
Thanks

You prolly already know this but the fan only comes on when the lump gets a bit too toasty.
There is a fuse under the seat for the fan. Check that.
To check the fan, pull the 2 wires that go into the front of the rad and short them. The fan should come on.
If checking all that the fan still doesnt spin then the sensor on the rad (where the 2 wires goto) might be shot.

if you bridge the 2 wires off the rad sensor the fan should spin, if it don't the fan is shot, if it spins then the sensor is shot.
don't try and spin the fan with it connected up, if i remember right the fan is live all the time and if there is a short and it fires up guesss what's gonna happen to your fingers??

Duly noted lol.
I tried shorting the two wires on the sensor thing (the bit that sticks out about half way up the right hand side (as you look at the bike)) and nothing, so i'll check the fuses, if no luck then fan replacement?

Just checking,
you did short the wires and not the pins sticking out of the fan right?
And FYI, i got a price from Cradley for a new fan and they said £230ish i think, i said ill get back to them lol. Turns out it was just my sensor.

that wont do anything mate you need to bridge the wires you take off that.

Sorry i'm confused now. I pulled the two wires off the sensor thing and touched the ends together, is that not right?

Checked the fuse and it had blown, replaced it and still touching the wires together has no effect, though i tried it with ignition off but i thought it should work this way?

yeah it should work with ignition off too, did you check the fuse again after re-trying? Hopefully its not blown again. If it has you'll need to get to the fan wiring and measure the resistance across the fan motor, if its 0 ohms then the motor has shorted internally. If not then your problem is elsewhere.
