Morning all. I've a ZXR 750 H2 Model. Fitted new battery. Ride about 20miles and Bikes dies as battery is a flat as a f*rt. Anyone know what voltage then Altenator should put out at Tickover and when running? will check over the weekend with multi-meter. The Battery doesn't loose charge when it sits but seems to be drained when being riden. Seems odd I know but has anyone got any thoughts. Cheers D.

sounds like your rectifier has gone mate, have you tried it with no lights on and see if it drains the battery then?

Ah. Ran it yesterday without lights on and still dies after 20miles. So a new Altenator required then?

Doubt if it's alternator more likely rectifier/regulator

All earths seem ok, battery fully charged and no voltage drop over 48hrs...

i think voltage over the battery at tickover should be about 13.5-14volts i think, ye more likely rectifier then altenator

reg/rect any where from 13.5 to 14.4 rising with revs from tickover to about 4k rpm.
As for generator (which i doubt it is - along with everyone else) this is tested ac and shoud be 50v plus again rising with revs.

Hey, new here but got a problem similiar to this one ...
Just bought the bike and it started fine no problems, then half way home through a 3 hour journey I stopped for some fuel, and it was struggling to start, the battery was dying, so I found a a hill and got it started
Got home checked that the battery was charging when the bike was on, yep all fine, 14.3 i think if i remember correctly! No current leak when off either! Put it on the Oxford charger, according to that it didn't need charging, which seems strange :/
It then ran okay for a few days, now today the batterys lost its charge, another bump start

no hill this time, had a right job getting up to some speed! got home looked at charge rate on the battery, from idle all the way up to 8k revs, no charge what so ever! So for some reason it only charges when it feels like it, not had it long enough to spot a pattern yet, I was hoping for a loose connection, but when I have my lights on it seems to speed up the battery discharge a lot which sounds like a broken part?!
Anyone else have this problem, ideas?
Cheers

mm did you put a new rectifier on or secondhand?
