he guys, first post.

got a j plate 400.

right story, bought the bike and it hardly been riden for the last 2 years.

so obviously battery would be flat.
went to jump start the bike, and whilst i was in the car, my mate decided to start hooking up the jump leads. he didnt realise the ignition was on in the car, and when he hooked up the last lead (positve) to the bike, a few sparks came. anyway went to turn on the igniton on the bike and no lights came on (eg oil, and nuetral).

anyway i thought be easier to buy a new battery, charged it up and conected it to the bike and still no lights coming on. wont start either.

so could i hve blown a fuse or something.

first bike for me, so want to get it on the road, so any help be greatful.

thanks

heya mate welcomt to the forum.

Almost definately sounds like it might be a fuse thats blown. The fuse box sits on top of the battery. Top should prise off and you will be able to see the fuses. Chances are you have blown the main 30amp fuse so check that first. If not check the rest, you'll know if they are blown cos the wire will be broken on the inside.

I think there is also another fuse around on of the relays thats inline with the battery, check that too.

Hope that helps

i did check a little back fuse box which contains only 4 fuses, mainly headlights and taillights, couldnt see any other one but will check again for it.

thanks for the advice.

We got the manuals here

http://www.zxrworld.co.uk/Manuals/L%20M ... r%2015.pdf

page 35 should interest you. There should be more than 4 fuses in it tho!

yeah sounds like you've blown the 30amp main fuse which is on the left hand side by the battery.
