help needed over chargeing battery

hello just fittted a new battery to my h2 as i thought the old one had knackered out. after runing the bike up for 15 mins the new battery boiled up and but acid down the overflow/expansion pipe (not very much im hopeing the battery will be ok) put a multi meter on the live to earth and the battery was getting 19 volts at 5,000rpm the regulater has been changed with in 18 months i was wondering is there any thing that should be checked be fore replaceing any thing....cheers tom

was it a brand new regulater/rectifier u fitted or a second hand one?it could be this has gone down again, you could check the altenator output as well but more likley to be regulator for over charging.

it was a brand new one haven't checked altenater out put as yet where is the easiest place to test it and what figures should i be getting?

Your regulators dead if it's putting out that much voltage!
Was it a proper Kawasaki one or a cheap ebay hong kong jobby (they tend to last 5 minutes!)
The above link to the workshop manual will tell you hot to test everything.
If you unplug the connector from the generator (has 3 yellow wires / 3 black & pink wires) that floats about near the reg rec and set your multimeter to AC voltage you should get 43v - 50v @ 4000rpm between each of the 3 terminals. (put one lead of meter in one and check the other two, the swap around till you test all combinations)
The workshop manual also gives you resistanaces for checking the generator etc.
