ok so i heard my bike starting without me and was assuming someone was stealing it so I ran out to see my bike on its side trying to start itself in 1st.
Some water must have gotten in somewhere and shorted the started circuit somewhere along the way. Swearing swearing swearing, as my brand new fairings are now not so nice

lesson number one, don't leave your bike in gear

but i would also be worried as to why it would even try, with the sidestand down and it in gear and the clutch out the bike shouldn't start, thats pretty much all the cut-out switches engaged.
