ZX6R Rear shock in a ZXR 400 ???

Hi everybody !
Well, I live in France and have a ZXR 400 for race only. My rear shock is dead and I've heard somewhere that ZX6R rear shocks were fitting with just a small drill of the lower axis. Is that true ? The ZX6R rear shock seems to be very similar to the ZXR 400 one, except the reservoir. Is there ZX6R models with remote reservoir ? Which ZX6R model fits the best (I've also heard that the eye to eye lenght was different between models) ?
Thank you all for your help, I really would't like to spend more than 80£ in a shock
