Hi all

I want to fit some different calipers to the front end of a 400 H1, I have read all the threads about the 6 pots being a bit pony so don't want to fit them. Can anyone tell me which other calipers will fit onto my forks, and what mods I'll need to make them work.

Whats the distance between the mounting holes?

I think they're standard 62mm between centres. I'm not sure what size discs as I don't have any on there (I'm building up the front end of a ZXR400 H1 to go on a Zephyr 550), I read a thread on here that said the H1 has 300mm discs (which are the same as the Zephyr), but if you swap to normal 310mm discs you can use other calipers

H models have 300mm discs, 310's will "just" rub the caliper body.. the 6 pots will allow you to fit the 310mm discs, not sure about the k1 4pots.. but probably

Cool, I think I'll get a pair of k1 4 pots then, I can try them with the pair of 300mm zephyr discs I have, if the discs are too small for the calipers I'll get the bigger ones.

I understand the L's use a 310mm discs, does anyone know if these are a straight fit on the H1?

No, I don't have any calipers at the moment.

Identical but bigger does make sense, thank you, at least I now have more choice of discs

if you dont have any calipers, you could get direct fit, the calipers origionally fitted to h1 are still fitted to bikes today. zzr600/1100/1200 and several others. They are on ebay cheap too. Brand new are only £200 a pair with pads
