GSXR calipers and ZXR400

Now having major issues with these calipers and the zxr.

I've had to strip them, clean them and rebuild (using the same seals, they were in perfect condition but no dust seals) as before they were very badly sticking. The pistons were coated in toad and maybe 2 or 3 out of the 6 would work. However, the brakes were strong and had decent pressure behined the lever. After 2 hours of straight bleeding, I can now only get a small amount of pressure behined the lever using its wideist (sp) setting. No air is coming out of the bleed nipples are there are no leaks from the seals. Buggered master cyclinder maybe? Or just the fact that the zxr's mc is too small and now its having to move 12 free flowing pistons rather than 12 siezed ones.

air gets stuck behind the little piston. take the calipers off and push the piston right back in, that sometime shifts it out...

Get the calipers above the mastercylinder

Another thing which I just remembered is the seals were tapered. Meaning that the side wall of the seal got larger from one side to the other. I put the tapered edge of the seal face down. Is this correct?

Can't help you with the seals, but i've found squeezing the brake and tying it to the handle bar then leaving it over night has helped to bleed them.

I cant remember tbh. I know i only had one seal on each piston. I dont put the dust seals on, they are tappered ar'nt they?

The main seals are tapered.

Anyone know what the standard size is for the zxr m/c?

when you do that, the brake fluid is absorbing water out of the atmosphere!
