i'm thinking of fitting a set of bridgestone battlax BT-014's on my zxr400 in preparation for winter. is this a good all round tyre and will perform well in the dry and the wet???

Great tyres mate but in my opinion BT090's are more appropriate to our bikes and considerably less dosh

Got them on mine and I can't fault them

They are HR rated tho, BT014 are ZR

Hope that helps

Cheers

i've seen the 090's on VFR', they don't last long becauses they are soft and there's not alot of tread to start with and they aren't good for winter use are they???

For winter tyres you'd be better off with 020's as they are a touring tyre.

Have BT020's on wifeys bike, no problems so far, even had a pair on my RR for a while in the wet and found they live up to their reputation as a good street tyre.

Guess it depends on how you use the bike. I find BT090's are great for weekend scratching but yeah they don't last that long. BT020 great for
mileage, BT014 for sporty riding, all of them got good wet grip

Spilt for choice really :smt017

I suppose you could say that technically we should be using ZR rated tyres cos of the potential top speed the ZXR can do. Wasn't an issue at
my last MOT tho

PLEASSSSSSEEEE let it be dry tomorrow :smt012

You can get HR rated 014s for your ZXR,

its a nickname i earned from the Isle of Wight demon cars forum. basically i get a lot of grief from the car lads for the colour of my ZXR (pink/purple/black) and they wonder why i get a bit peeved. i soon stop that though when i remind them that my bike will do all of their cars up the local quarter of a mile dual carriageway! ya get me :smt002 you should check it out sometime:- http://www.iowdemoncars.net

i have got some bridgestone BT-014's after all. i paid £235 for two rears and a front, thats not bad really.

next problem is that i cant get the front wheel off on my own to take it in to the garage to get the new tyre fitted because i havn't got a front paddock stand.

can i use a rear stand or does anyone know how i can do it by myself without?

thanks, mike. :smt013
