inner spacer too late????

Hello folks. I put new bearings in my rear hub last night. Woke up this morning a realised I'd forgot to put the spacer in. I'm not at home so can't try to fit it through one of the holes in the side. Can this be done?
Also I take it that as the front has no hole, the spacer must be in before the new bearings and does anyone have a good way of holding it in position?

Yeah I'll wait till its in. Any idea if it can be put in without having to take a bearing out?

Nopes. You have to take at least 1 of the bearings out.

Well I pulled the sprocket side bearing from the rear hub and inserted the inner bearing spacer. I have now noticed that the spacer appears to be a few mm too long
Is this right? and if so does that mean that the sprocket side bearing is not pressed in all the way to allow for the spacer tube.
Any help would be great. Between this and the cock up the powder coaters have made, which has prohibited me from putting the sprocket carrier back on, ive never had this much trouble with a zxr wheel

If i remember correctly,
On one side of the wheel the bearing will only go in so far before a rim prevents it going any further, the other side will go all the way into the wheel and drop into the centre.
Maybe the side that doesnt have a rim to stop it is the one you shoulda removed ?

Both sides of the rear hub have a rim to stop the bearing. The front hub does not. Surely the rear bearings are pressed in till they hit the rim (so to speak). I don't know why the spacer won't fit. Any one changed their bearings recently who can fill me in on what I'm doing wrong

Took the hub to my local mechanic today, he too thought it was odd to have a rim on both sides for the bearing to sit on but For the spacer bar to protrude.
He instructed me to press the bearing in till it just touches the spacer, so hopefully problem solved

Scratching my head on this one. Went to rebuild the rear of the bike today after pressings the bearing in till it touched the inner spacer. The other bearing is in till it sits on the rim.
I now cannot get the circlip back in as the bearing is not low enough. I thought maybe the spacer wasn't lined up but I can pass the Axel through without any problems
Any thoughts anyone as I can't see how this isn't working

Unfortunately I can't put any more 'welly' on it as the spacer is touching both bearing. So to hit the bearing that is too high will only push the other bearing into its circlip. Maybe the bearings/rear hub is meant to be like this..
