hey guys i wanted to know if anyone knew how to get the central 30mm nut off the clutch assembly. i have been having dificulty with it because when you try and break it the clutch basket turns with the nut. is there a special tool or a bodge for this?

the problem is that the clutch seems to be catching on something when the bike is straight and not in gear even though i have disassembled it, when you tilt the bike to the right the clutch frees and turns.

any ideas

your 'ment' to use a clutch holding tool whats basicly slips onto the teeth then stops it from sping

what i do is put on of the clutch cover screws back in the jam a screw driver inbetween the screw and the basket

Best to have 2 people to do this !

Clutch holder tool is £20 on eBay.

What did you make it out of?

i made one using bolts. i just put two smaller threaded bolts on to two pieces of steel strap i had then cut one shorter than the other and bolted it to the long one loose enough to pivot, just like this

you can also (if you have a spare drive plate and fricton plate) drill 2 holes in them then bolt them togeather fit them into the clutch and no more spining!

I use an impact gun on the aprilia ones, not worked on the kwak bottom end yet. You can get these electrical impact guns now, they would probably work.

hate them things you never get it to the righ torque

I never get things to the 'right' torque anyway. Havn't got a torque wrench, I know what you mean with the guns, but on something like the clutch nut, which is a hard steel nut, on a hard steel shaft it wont strip like butter if you get a bit carried away.
