It's eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeasy!!!!!! :D

Just don't over-tighten the sump-plug - they're prone to cracking... =o|

How much were your plates and springs, and where from, Loopy???

And chain and sprocets are pish-easy too, as long as you don't get a chain that you have to dismantle half the -ing bike to get on!!! :x

Dont forget soak the new plates in oil and just put a bit of oil on the steals as you put it back together

Gasket code 110091917 £11.00 any kawasaki dealer

Torque settings
Clutch cover bolts 9.8nm
springs 12nm

Job done good luck :D

Got EBC ones though :? (now ur all gonna tell me how crap they are) :(

I dunno what the C&S's are, my mate already had them in his garage, gotta go pick em up, but I've always used DID chain sets :D

I'll let u know how things go, but will ride it down to Poole Quay Tuesday reguardless

but if its that easy

I'll get new clutch then and also do an oil change same time just to make sure, what oil do u recommend for the old zxr?
Personally I will recommend motul 15W40 semi-synthetic engine oil for older bikes.. I've used Fuch silkolene 10W40 for 2 oil changes only and my mechanic tells me that my cam shaft need to change.. He claims that the engine oil is too thin to protect the cam shaft for my 8yrs old L7 zxr400..

Expensive lesson for me..

Clutch pressure plate on me zxr has just fallen apart :(

had replaced clutch plates and new springs, all 4 bolts where done up loosely then on tightening the first one to required pressure the flange part broke :?

tried the others and they all did the same

obvious thought was over tightening them  but none made it upto the torque and yes absotutely positive torque was set correctly

I was just wondering what could of caused this as it seems a bit bizarre all four should go :?

could simple wear n tear n old age be the reason or is there another problem/something else to be aware of ie knackered old torque wrench :?:

I am guessing you are riding a zxr 400 H MODEL as i snapped about 5 in one night i just changed the whole basket and clutch over to a L model

Good luck

kenn, does your mechanic recomend this for cold starts? Because the 15 component of the 15-40 number is the cold viscosity I beleive hence not really effecting viscosity at operating temp. It also states in the genuine manual to use 10-40. I just thought I would point this out in case you were not aware of it.

SLOWERRACING - how are you goin, how much was you ram air box from bb plastics. and have you been able to get the jetting correct with it. Can you run the ram air with a filter.
cheers

My jetting is spot on no flat spots just straight up and a very good torque

Ram air box was about £200

The ram air comes with a filter as such it is a piece of wire mesh witch i changed for a bit bigger holes in the mesh

Good luck
