Hi,

I have the engine out of the bike at the moment and am going to make sure its in tip top condition.

What should i be doing?

I am guessing valve clearances, how do i do i check these and how would i replace the shim?

Also plugs, oil, filters etc.

What else do i need?

Thanks

Jon

Cam chain and tensioner blades are worth doing. Id do the head gasket too while i was at it.

A guide on the shims is here

New plugs oil and filter are a good idea :)

If you want your engine like brand new again then I'd have new mains and big end bearing shells in it too.

Replace the seals on output shatt and gear change

Close inspection iof the gearbox and gear change particulary selector forks

Get the valve seats at least lapped in if not recut
