Got a ticking coming from front end of my bike (as far as I can hear) I can only hear it when i've slowed down and the revs are lowish (so the exhaust is quiet) Someone has suggested the cam chain? Easy fix? Am I doing more damage by still riding it? It's my only transport at the moment so have no choice but to ride it but I dont want to be causing more damage!!!!! Any help appreciated! I know very little about the maintanance of bikes!!

could be valve clearances or cam chain or both? pretty easy enough jobs but obviously depends on your diy skills.

Spoke to a garage today and they said its cam chain tensioner blades. Anyone got a rough idea of price before I get ripped off by some monkey?! Cheers in advance!

you'll be looking about £20 ish for the blade. Make sure it's the correct one too. A garage will charge u loads to have it done, as it's an engine out job

If it was my cam chain tensioner blade would it make my bike un-rideable?? Coz its still rideable just making this ticking noise...which seems to be getting worse (last time I rode it neway! been a few weeks now!!

Wouldnt make it unrideable, just noisy, and could cause you some severe problems if you just leave it! If its getting worse so quickly then id say you need to check the extension in the tensioner piston by taking off the timing casing on the RHS of the motor, behind the coolant bottle. Thats usually a good way of confirming it id say!
