Odd tinkling sound!?

Hey guys,
you will have to excuse my thick questions, I really have no idea about bikes and just ride the dam thing. Could really do with some advice. I have seen other posts similar to this but as I'm 17 and on a tight budget need to try and get diagnosis right before splash out. Over last few weeks bike has developed a kind of ticking sound. This is noticeable when bike stationary and idling. However when I ride this ticking is no more and instead I can here a tinkling sound (sorry to be pedantic but no longer ticking bike is tinkling if ya get me lol). When I pull the clutch in sound continues to be there. Its not particularly loud just noticeable when I pull clutch in coast and listen to it. It doesn't get any worse when I am riding at higher revs. Is this a possible cam chain replacement as I have read in other posts? I'm really hoping not
I have recently had a new chain and sprockets fitted could the tinkling sound becoming from there more likely? Any ideas would be much appreciated, being 17 and at college doesn't really leave me with much spare cash
Cheers all
