Ignition Rotor Question

Hi All,
I have a ZX4 - ZXR400 race bike of unknown parentage. I have not been able to identify the rotor for the ignition in any documents I have including the F3 kit race manual.

Ignitor is supposedly a standard 21119-1245
Rotor is stamped 1168 so I assume it is a 21007-1168

Unlike the standard rotor depicted in the service manuals and microfiches that have 3 small tabs and 1 large one, this rotor has 5 or so small tabs only. A standard rotor does not work with the ignitor box, no spark at all.

Anyone got any ideas what I have got?
Pic can be posted if it will help.

Cheers
Warren.

post some pics up mate, i've got a ZX-4 with the 1245 cdi, two H1's with 1271 cdi, and some L bits in the garage, i should be able to work it out.

i know an L box wont work on an H, but an L engine will work in an H without changing the rotor, so it looks like a loom incompatibility between the L box and H loom there ..

my guess is you have a 1245 and corresponding rotor which differs from the later bikes, but that a 1271 and corresponding rotor will work..

what rpm does your rev limiter cut in at ?

pics will clarify.

H model > #1189

ZX4 > #1168

dont have a picture of an L rotor, but seems your bike is stock ZX4

the pic's are taken from chapter 4 of the H manual.

Yep that's the one, the lower pic is what I have. So it's a standard ZX4 rotor then? Strange because I bought another ZX4 and it had an 1189 rotor???

well, thats whats in mine, and it works with the 21119-1245 cdi ... i've had the bike since it was a low mileage minter, so believe it to be stock.

the other one you have . with the 1189 rotor .. what cdi is on it ? possibly just had a zxr engine fitted at some point ?
