Hi, can anyone help!

Was riding my bike to work this morning and a noise started coming from the engine. Could this be because the clutch cable needs replacing and I know it does, but would the noise correspond to this? It only makes the noise wen i accelerate and the bike still starts wen i stall it! I know the clutch cable needs replacing as the bike still creeps forward wen im in 1st gear. I have cable but had no time to fit it as yet, will this harm the bike?

Regards
Dwayne

Its like a fast clicking noise, as i say its lost power but it starts and the noise isn't there wen its ticking over. But it got worse once i heard it, i only heard it wen i was over 5000 revs but its all the time now wen i accelerate. I was only a couple of miles from work wen it happened so thought id take it easy into work.

does it change when you pull the clutch in? if you have lost power could be your clutch is worn and need new clutch plates?

Yes the noise stops wen i pull the clutch in, although as i say there isn't much cable left to pull as its totally worn.

Yeah taking it to get the clutch cable put on tonight, but bit worried about riding it there. Its about 5 miles from my work, think it will b ok if i go steady? Is it very hard to replace clutch cable? I have the L model 1994.
