Hi everyone,

The cam chain on my bike really could do with replacing its an L1.

I just wondered if anyone on here has or knows where i can get a step by step guide of how to fit a continuous chain....

i know it envolves dropping the lump out etc also what else should i replace whilst ive got the engine out. might as well give the engine a fairly good overhaul.

Thanks in advance for any advice,

Leanne

hi,

didnt think you needed to remove the engine for this? Thought it was just the cams that you had to take off?

On a separate note, would a slack cam chain cause cams/valves to tap? (as opposed to rattle)

i tried looking on the manual pdfs on this site but couldnt find any info on it.... actually i just looked at the l model ones so i should check the h model manual as the l model one is just an extra supplement isnt it? anyways will take a look now...thanks

i think to fit a continous chain you have to drop the lump where as a split chain yuo can fit with the lump in the bike im sure ive read that somewhere.

Im not 100% but i think you can get away with not dropping it. Surely all you need to do is take off the rocker cover, the cam chain adjuster cover, remove the cams and then fir it in that way?

Or am i totally barking up the wrong tree?

i believe you can do it with the engine in situ but i can't see how, i dropped my engine when i did mine. and i mean out of the frame not on the floor!
