Hello friends, I write here for some help ,,, 2 weeks ago my engine blow .... and here in Spain, the ZXR 400 doesn`t exist, so all spares I need, I have t look them for in england ..... but it is really dificult
Does anyone sell here any engine or know where could I find one?

new engines are ~£300 on ebay...but you take your chances with them.

what exactly has gone wrong with yours? might be cheaper to get spares here, ship them in a single delivery, then put in a new (untested/no history) engine that might fail after a week...

here the mechanics told me its to way expensive the fixing ,,, and my engine is over 45.000 miles .... today could be this, tomorrow other thing ..

really, I don't know what to do ... the problem is, to replace this pieces, I need to measure the wear and tolerances of my engine, and ,,,, I don't really see too much future on this reparation

they look like connecting rod bushings, they go between the crankshaft and the connecting rod, they are split in half so you have 8 in your bike. from an original kawasaki dealer they are 9euro each, but you usually only need to change a few.

or they could be the camshaft bushings, they are what your camshaft sits on as it spins, again they are 9euro each and you have 10 in your bike, but you only usually need to change a few.

the expensive bit is the labour cost that a mechanic will charge you, as you will need to remove the engine, split the crankcases, check the tollerences of the crankshaft and con-rods, give it a clean/remove debris, then put it back together and that might cost you a few hundred euros alone in labour.

however if you want to do it yourself its not to difficult, you just need to have a good guide to help you (the service manual) and some specialised tools (air impact gun, plastigauge, assorted sockets and allen keys etc...).

also, you will find it difficult to find an engine with less than 20,000 miles on it...they are very rare nowadays.

i have 0% mechanical experience and i am rebuilding a 1989 yamaha fzr 1000 exup engine...its not difficult, you just have to be methodical and take your time.

All you say was what the mechanich told me ,,,, but, am a bit afraid opening a such old engine as mine ,,, I though will be easier and better by new engine, and then, fix mine mysekf as you say, with pacience and a guide .... but I can't wait to finish the engine by my self and in case I finish properly

15.000miles and 30 days warranty ... I am most likely buy it, I am just finishing some questions with the seller...

i am not going to make any personal recomendations about an engine i have not seen, sorry.

however, i think getting one that works, and then rebuilding yours, and having a "spare" engine lying around is a good idea.
