Optimal pilot setting for L9?

Just wanted to double check the the pilot adjustment setting for my L9.

Am I right in think the manual states 1 and 5/8th turns from fully in?

Also, I know some 'real world' settings are sometimes favourable over the manuals settings, is this the case or should I just stick with the 1 5/8th first?

Cheers

Edit: Had a look at the L9 supplement, looks like its actually 1 and 3/4 turns out.

Start with 1 3/4 turns out and go from there

Thanks.

If this wasnt quite the right setting, is it more likely that I would then be richening (screw in) or leaning (screw out) the mixture?

I finally got the carbs out this afternoon and the pilot air screw was set to only 1.25 turns out! (Even worse this was done by a Kawasaki main dealer! :smt120)

Could this be the reason why any sort of choke basically stalled the bike?

If its running rich then yeah, always start anything from standard settings first then adjust accordingly be it carbs or suspension, they're normally in the ballpark, and yes, out to lean in to richen
