stubby can

oh my days, i decided on saterday to have a go a choping and shuting my can to make it stubby.

my dad did his fuel 1 on his rizla and it looks the bees knees so i thought well if he can do it the so can i. well it would appear i cant. it all started when a local engineering company i work next to cut it a fookin kinked it!!! so i staightend it out, lovly jubly so now im going to put it back together and have a sweet sounding exhaust rite, NO. i drilled the holes rong when trying to put the strap on so it looked toad, now ive got a bit of a temper and had a good old fasioned hissy fit and hit a rivet with a chisel to get it out (i blunted the drill bit on the stainless steel originals) and like a tool riped a chunk out of the exhaust :smt013 :smt013 .

i took it back to the engineers and asked them to cut some more off and just got it welded and it actualy doesnt look to bad. but a word to the wise, DONT DO IT, just leave it alone (well thats what my dad said saterday morning when i told him about my plan, dnt i wish i had listened)

just thought you guys woud like to know, now feel free to mock i recon i deserve it lol.

Ive got a spare damaged micron i was looking to do this with, got a huge dint slap in the middle so figured id cut it to get rid of the dint, anyone have a guide on doing this?

Wudnt matter if i fecked it up so much as its been sat in the garage doing f*** all for months since i bought another

Drill out rivets
Pull off the ends
Plus out the packing
Decide how long you want it then mark it all (make sure it is long enough for the strap the reach it lol)
Cut the internal bit from the base then cut to the same length
Weld the internal bit back to the base
Cut the packing to same length
Push all back together
Get it all lined up
Drill holes for rivets
Rivet all back up and get ready for ear ache :D

That's it in a nut shell :smt002

you shouldnt need to take both ends off only 1 end and its best to cut it while its all together so it doesnt colapse when you put pressure on it,

but what do i know i fecked mine.

just took the bike out with it fitted, the noise in brilliant. maybe a bit to much tho might try it with the baffle in.

Sorry, mine was Carbon Fibre so i was in Carbon mode lol, obv you can't cut the CF and metal with the same blade :smt001

I have a micron oval and the front half has a dent in it, but its not riveted on....how would i get that off, i was thinking chop it then push the end out from the inside??

I've never been a fan of it... I don't think it looks right on sportsbikes!

That goes for the new style cans on superbikes, too...

I think stubbies look alrite, and they sound great

But i do agree with you on the new sportsbikes, they look pathetic!!

i didnt cut it, the engineering company cut it but they used some massive saw thing dunno what its called.

yeah it is a bit short ent it, the strap only just fits on haha.
