well had some dude on a 33bhp cb600f plie of junk pull along side me on a set of lights to enter a motorway slip road giving it the heavy left hand with is race pipe >< . so gave it some stick and left it in my dust ??? :tease which i was socked to see that my 33bhp monster was pullign away froma 600 and hit 100ish then a bit of downhill looking @ 110ish started to slow down then a BIG rumble fromt he butt end :smt017 like goign over potholes . so i slowed right down and pulled over to see that my rear disk had CRACKED ??!?!?!?! from hole to hole it has split right throught the disk?!?!?!

WTF makes this happen was toad scary to say the least thought my shock had exploded or my tyre was peeling!

luckily i had a spare disk here so just took the back end off and changed the disk. no need new pads as my pads look fubard

You keep spare disks??? I thought I was bad with tyres!

My bet would be your rear caliper was binding and the extreme heat cycles cracked the metal. That still shouldn't really happen though...

The only time I've had a cracked disk was after two Scrotes tried to stamp my disk lock off. Maybe the wheel got dropped on the disk whilst it was in for a tyre change?

I think jamz is along the right lines. There must have been a weakness in the disc already, hairline crack of some sort.
Unless there dangerously cheap discs I don't think any amount of heat cycles would cause a crack like that, they should just warp.

No wonder that bloke on the CBR was slow. Revving with his left hand will get him nowhere!!!

That crack looks to me like it didn't just happen yesterday. Looks like it's been there a while
And I've seen a few like it before.

If there was a sudden change in the bike I'd be looking a little deeper in case something else is wrong

I've seen a race bike where the caliper grabbed the disc and broke it clean away from the disc carrier.......................NO BRAKES

yeah i THINK it was a mixture of thin disk + low pads .
the rigth hand pistom seemed to be out further than teh left and was a utterTW@t to get back in.

spint 2-3 hours checking / lubign it all.

other question ....

CIRCLIP holding the front sprocket on ... this isnt standard procedure? luckily my sapre bottom end had a lock tabk thingy + sprockt on it

i crashed at manfeild on monday with no brakes :excited - due to a sticky piston after them being boiled one or twice though i think, to make matters worse i spent two hours last night vaccume bleading them on the bench and when i fitted them to the bike the lower part of the leaver bracket snapped off ARGGHHHHHH :smt013 :ffs and i have to leave to race in taupo on friday
