Can somebody give me some tips to get more lean angle?

Just gone from BT-014 tyres to Pirelli Diablos, and I am getting sick of the 1/2" fanny band on the rear!!!

Front is scrubbed all the way to the edge (nicely) but the rear refuses to scrub past the dots where the pimples come out of the mold (the pimples are scrubbed onn, but no further?)

I seem to be leaning as much as I was on the 014's, but have these fucking fanny bands that are pissing me right off!

Seems like I am leaning the bike full, although I obviously am not?

Lack of confidence in the tyres? (Dont see how, cos they supposed to be *mint*??)

depends where your riding style mate - if you are hanging off the bike then obviossuly bike stays more uprght for a given speed and the tyres are saying - more speed possible. If however this is all happening on the road then if the roads are anything like they are up here then trying to get rid of a fanny strip is liekly to result (sooner or later) in you being a photo in Robs new thread.

A few options:-

1) trackdays - get after it and use the tyres and the surface to work away at the strip

2) If more immediate results are required then the safeset way of adding credibility while keeping yourself in one piece might be a little light use of a file (just think - problem could be solved as early as this afternoon!!!! )

I've been reading up - and apparantly it could be due to incorrect suspension settings?

Im 17 stone - 6ft2" and am all elbows and knees.
The guy I bought the bike from was 1ft3" and had to use a stairlift to get on the seat!

Maybe I need to get the suspension looked at? (Or some nice person post a cracking link to a pdf guide?? )

The roads round here have quality bends, quality road surface and are very well maintained (at the moment anyway) compared to anywhere else I have been.

Get your suspension set up mate definatley.

I would say suspension mate, its probably not set up for someone ure size. I have diablos and they wear evenly front and rear with next to no 'fanny band' as you put it lol.

Track is the best option, theres usually a trick bits van or something like that with someone that will look at the suspension for you.

Could be riding style but i don't know, it would worry me if my front was closer to the edge than the rear.....losing the rear is recoverable (just about), losing the front nearly always ends in tears....

Hard Man's Solution = More power coming out of corners banked over.

Posers Solution = let some air out of your tyre.

PLEASE NOTE: You're likely to crash and die doing either of these, so don't blame me for it! Personally, I don't really care what my tyres look like as long as I'm happy with how I'm riding it.

sandpaper is equally good as a file

It is a case of more balls really, but in 'trying' to do it is bound to end in tears. My advice, find a nice and quiet smoothly tarmac'd roundabout and go round and round and round. Get a feel for the bike leant over and become comfortable with it. Before long youll take the shine of the edge.

I had a play with my suspension last weekend, made loads of difference, the sag was all to toad, only had 2mm static and 12mm rider sag on the rear!!!!

I think it also depends on the tyre. I'm riding exactly how I used to with my old tyres but seem to be getting closer to the edge without trying.

Went for a quick blast at 7pm last night, down some quick twisties - and tried not to hang off at all!

Halved the bands already, and I wasn't even going that fast! lol

excuse the faulse terminolgy, but when you are in a corner are you "steering" the oppisite way to let the bike lie down or are you fighting it by turning the way you are heading ? this can make a HUGGGGGEEE diffrence to the rear tyre, im managing to roll to the edge of a diablo superbike slicks .... 190 yep 190 haha on my zxr400, ( 5 1/2 rim with cutout swing arm )

hmm think im destined to an 3/4inch of unused rubber no matter how good i ride or fast i go, i cant get the strip off grrrrrrrrr
currently on 160 rear tyre, handles ace.....think only way i will get the chicken strips off is to lend it to the bf
