Bennetts just sent me a letter kindly informing me that on the 29th March they'd deduct 450quid from my bank and automatically renew my policy- wtf!! I only had to pay them 300ish last year! Why has is gone up so much!!??

So told them where to shove it and got a quote from motorcyle direct for 260 fully comp

I'm with Bennits and just got quoted £208, fully comp on a ZX6R. I am an though.

I wouldn't have thought it would go up, but there are reasons why it may,

Move of house into more dodgy postcode, a cliam in the past year, Bennits make a mess up of payments, slight change of policy like commuting, modifications etc, change of job to mechanic, adding leathers etc to your policy, the list goes on. If absolutley nothing changed then probably Bennits screwed it up, or they are feeling the credit crunch?

At least you got it cheaper

its the typical insurance company ploy,

bump up the premium in the hope you are one of these ppl that forgets insurance renewals and just lets the direct debit come out!

since using carole nash i wouldnt go anywhere near bennetts again

ACCEPT THEIR RENEWAL!!!!!

They send out the renewal letter to make money off lazy people. Get an online quote from them and I bet it will be less - if it isn't, then go somewhere else or if you really like Bennetts get them to match it.

Make sure you tell bennetts in writing, i had the same for my ZX6r, they took the £279 anyways, even after I had phoned them and told them i wont be renewing, as I have bought insurance for £179 for the same bike, at performance direct.

when I phoned up after they took the money, they said they had no record of me cancelling, but yes did have a record of my phone call I said check the phonecall recording then and give me my money back.

3 days later, no money still, I phoned tham up and told them to refund me immediately. They denied I had called them a few days previous and I said well, in the terms and conditions, I have 14 days to cancel insurance with a full refund. So do that. I wrote to them and when I did get my money back, two weeks later, I was £45 down. They had charged me an admin fee for cancelling my insurance!! (New small print, apparently) The thing that gets me most is, they were quick enough to take the cashola, but took forever to give it back!

Lost the will to fight them anymore and have added them to my personal boycott list which also consists of Churchill insurance, Norwich Union and Direct Choice insurance, Yellow Buses in Bournemouth, Doug Dearden Yamaha, Bevois valley honda, Bursey motorcycle engineering and Sammy Miller.

I just added them to cuntscorner aswell. They deserve to be on there.

My house insurance have just done the same/even worse. They sent me a letter staying it will stay the same(£8 a month), then a week later sent me another one saying £10 a month. I rang them and they said it seemed odd and that they would get back to me. Did they f*%$! I'll be back on the phone again tomorrow, what a cheek.

Have been on the phone for 40 minutes. Been passed around to no less than 4 departments. Been told that they decided to put payment protection on it for us. Nice eh, we didn't even have to ask for it!

Regarding your house insurance adding payment protection.... tell them to stick it, they have to ask you if you want it. It's up to you not them!!! I can feel a mis-selling claim coming up!!
