Sticks and stones...

I spent the last 5 days in hospital after hitting some debris and leaping evil knievel style into some trees. Not got the bike back yet but I think she's KO'd.
I did ok depending on how you look at it. I severed my left thumb and broke my left tibia and fibula. I'm left handed too so it very nearly ruined life. Everything is attached now though so just got to be patient.
I always go on about the toad on our roads and now it's fucking got me. I don't know what it was but it made the bike leap up so violently and it sent me and the ZXR straight off in a split second (it was a right hand corner).
I'm thankful I was with my younger bro on his CBR125. It meant I was only doing about 40mph. If I'd been hooning it I dread to think the state I'd be in now.
Also, credit to Sidi, Shoei, Spada, and Knox. I've not got a single bruise or scratch apart from the broken bones and thumb. They're all in good shape too aside from the helmet and the fact the leathers had to be cut off in A&E.
A big f*** you to Alpinestars. The SP2 glove ripped off in the crash because it lacks a strap on the gauntlet. It concerned me before and I almost bought a new pair but didn't and alas it has cost me a lot of pain.
Anyway, take care on the roads.

Could have been worse dude, amazing how you get use of your right arm just as good as it once was with your left.
Hoping for a quick recovery

Christ mate.
Mighty sorry (and a little bit f**ked off) to hear that.
I hope your thumb comes back strong and the rest of your bones wind up with no residual aches!
I also hope you'll be taking a trip to your local council once you're capable of making that trip, with some very unpleasant language, and threats of making a big steaming pile of angry on the desk if they don't start cleaning the roads up.

Thanks everyone. The pain is finally settling, especially my thumb. The leg doesn't hurt at all except for the surgical wounds, but the thumb was horrendous. I've never felt pain like that and for that long. It was like an ice skater standing on my thumb 24 hours a day, for 8 days now.
It's a good sign though as I'm glad I can feel it!!
Got the bike back and it's pretty much a write off. The front left is very bad and I can see why my thumb suffered.
Sadly, I had downgraded to TPFT in my last months at uni and never got round to going back to fully comp. So, for the sake of £100, I've lost everything and can't work for at least another 2/3 weeks.
One fucking expensive and painful experience. But, I'm alive and well and so I guess it's just another life lesson learned the hard way.
I'll being going on a crusade against my council. I've slipped and dodged toad in the roads since day 1 of riding on 2 wheels and it was only a matter of time that it caught me out. Still have no idea what I hit or why I didn't see it. But I'm sick of them pissing money away on fucking "smiley face" speed checks and bullshit like that.
I've even seen the police park amongst a sea of gravel with a radar gun!?! Never mind sweeping a road, where's the revenue in that?
Really loved that bike. Gonna miss it so much.
Thanks to all your help in keeping her running by answering my questions. Who knows, she may live again.
Cheers guys

What every one else has said and glad your here to tell the tale
The one thing that impressed me here was seeing construction sites hosing the roads around the area washing away all the kack the lorries drag out, farmers who stop and sweep away the lumps of mud that have flown off their wheels and lorry drivers carrying brooms for the very same reason
It only takes minutes to do and makes a world of difference - how can't the UK industry get into this train of thought :smt013
Good speed on the recovery and keep wiggling things until the cats come off.
if your going to repair the bike drop me a PM, I'll make you an offer you can't refuse
