mine is due in a few weeks too actually! Not too worried about it, to change over from the 7R to the 400 a few weeks ago only cost me an admin fee of 16 pounds. Insurance was £220 last year on tfe 7R, so should drop quite dramatically this year with the 400. Might even go upto tpft.....

RENEWALS ARE FOR RETARDS!
That's why!
Go to the Carole Nash website and get a new quote. They sent me a renewal through for about £320 a few months ago... I tried the usual online quotes, then tried Carole Nash just for a look.... and it came out £172!
Basically they make money from people too lazy to check around before they sign a renewal.
Oh, and the £320 policy was underwritten by exactly the same company as the £172 policy - so it's not that, either!

thing is why do they do it when everyone knows not to accept a renewal quote.Actually my renewal for the car came through couple of months ago and no quote could beat it

Also Bennetts don't come with full UK and European breakdown and recovery. Can't remember if they have legal expenses cover, either?

mine are quite good, everytime my insurance is up for renewal they find a new quote for me rather than just sending me a renewal quote with the same company. So they look round, tell me the renewal for my current insurer and include a letter saying they have found it cheaper elsewhere.
Im with quoteline direct.

i had a car insured with tesco a few years ago .. if i didnt tell them IN WRITING that i didnt want the renewal, they'd just start taking money out of my account !

That's what Carole Nash do now...
"blah blah... renewal for £320... blah... HOWEVER, we are pleased to be able to offer you a policy for £280 with another underwriter... blah... blah..."
It was still £100 more than the quote I got from their website!
You can't trust 'em, I tells ya!!!

i thought theyd be a little less obvious with the overpriced renewal. anyway, i like bennetts quotes because i get to use it to haggle down my quotes from carole nash. It's never been quite such a big difference though.

I think you can get £20 cashback from Bennetts if you use topcashback.com

Glad to say it's the reverse here - very rarely can i find a cheaper deal than my renewal quote on-line - most times it means surrendering my hospital care to save £35, just not worth while.
After 4 yrs car insurance I now have fully comp' less than what i paid for TPO originally, about £110 / year
For the same amount I paid on my bike insurance 2yrs ago i now have increased coverage and indemnities - bit like the US here.
You have compulsary insurance which is peanuts - £32/yr and that makes you legal. Hit some one without back-up insurance and your fecked! So you pay what you want to cover yourself for that likely hood. Think my policy pays out a max of 1.5 million if I splat someone, covers my hospital fees upto half a million over and above my domestic health insurance and the third party for £750K with a pile of other stuff like damaging property ect... 2yr policey was £203 + £64
Soon as i get my Gold driving license that gets a 35% discount - fecked that up for this years renewal with two speeding fines

got another 3yrs to go.
No insurance classification on cars or bikes (above 400cc) so you can ride a 1400cc for the same cash as a 400cc or a Carina 2litre for the same as a Ferrari Diablo
An actual insurance system that makes sence - I am sure i can get a twin policy for both that recognises you can't be driving both at the same time , but when they are so cheap can't be arsed doing the leg work
However, no theft policies here from major insurance companies - you need to go private. Not a big enough crime for them to offer this service

, mind you leaving your car keys in the door of the car for three days and it's still there kinda demonstrates why

, can even go away all day with my crash helmet on the mirror and it's there when i get back. Most meetings I am the only one who puts a lock on their bike
