lowering

Hi all this will be my first noob question for you all, I recently bought my zxr from a dwarf who has had the bike lowered at the shock. I am quite tall and compared to my r125 feels so much lower.
I will be honest I have taken her for a few naughty laps of the block every other day to keep her ticking over. My full test ain't till the being of next month
. But how could anyone resit having a zxr 400 just sat there.
To be honest it doesn't feel uncomfortable but I won't really find out if its to low for me before I get a proper ride out of her I guess.
I am a mechanical retard so obviously a zxr 400 is the ideal bike for me
sure am going to learn loads but my little concern after looking up lowering at the rear shock online throws up contrasting results. Claiming lowering at the rear is good becasue it lowers the centre of gravity increasing balance. And others claiming the balance of the bike is thrown out completely and others saying that the ride becomes harsh and less comfortable.
Just wondering if someone here has had their zxr lowered or if someone could enlighten me as to what the effects of lowering at the rear are. I was going to leave it if it wasn't uncomfortable but don't want to leave it if it has a negative effect on handling.
Thank you
