Thinking of buying one, say 4litre, anyone got any recommendations of good makes, or any makes to avoid.
Seen a Triton (German) but it's £100 more than a similar probably Chinese one - colourperfect is the make.
Maplin sell JPL, seem to get decent reviews.

I was looking at getting one of eBay, £60, to me the problem isn't the cleaner itself its the cost of the solution, its not cheap buying proper ethanol, acetone or trike for example, you can just used distilled water and it can be used again but one really oily bit could dirty the whole solution, will probably still get one if I have the money, try make some money off other people. Don't know if you can use propanone, that's relatively cheap

Don't add more problems to this, I'm already suffering paralysis by analysis, once I get the sonic thingy I'll worry about solution.

My plan is to offer a forum carb cleaning service for £24.99 :pmsl

Seriously though I don't want to fork out a few hundred for a pile of crap

if you want to do carbs as a whole you will need to spend ~£350, if not any sonnicator will be fine, 4L should be good for a carb body and all the jets/metal internal carb bits.

use distilled water to do the carb, then blow dry with compressed air. then get some acetone in a squirty bottle and squirt it in all the holes/passages of the carb, blow this dry with compressed air and you should have a sparklingly clean carb...ask ross how clean i got his :D

You'll be needing a compressor as well then

Off to hoseworld, have a steam cleaner so you can use it from your end, SORTED.

Still got the pictures somewhere, they... Were... Perfect! I'll upload them later, the £60 one I was going to buy was a 2L, would fit most carbs but the zxr ones would have to be split into individual ones which I had to do to fit all the seals from maelstrom, sonicated carbs, dynojet kit with new seals, perfect

Due to hose logistics and use of Mr Cargo's compressor I am currently rethinking my cleaning service costs, my bargain £24.99 is looking, quite frankly, utterly ridiculous. I've ordered another set of Viton from Maelstrom for my other carbs, hence deciding on a sonic thingy, I also cleverly showed off that I have many many sets of carbs, which I plan to set up differently and save twatting about with one set all the time.
It will also impress people and make me sound rather racey :pmsl

I also have a rather fetching exhaust system which sounds so much better than that CaNsA's ART can, it's not for sale either.

I assume you are putting all the jets etc into a smaller mesh basket? One thing I didn't think of, the basket on mine would let them fall into the drain.
So far so good though, got 20litres of carb sonic fluid, should last for ages. Wife ain't happy :smt018 as the kitchen is now on full sonic carbs apart bits everywhere mode

After literally 4 minutes exhaustive searching on ebay I found a mesh tray for small parts, problem sorted, wife suggested it, says she's well versed in finding small parts. confuddled
