What is the general view on whom to nod to?

I find certain riders do not bother to return the nod, I mean the "I don't wave at every car driver when I'm in my car viewpoint", they are generally on big tourers and maybe think supersport bikes are for hooligans. I keep passing a chap on a nice 750 Gixxer, we acknowledge with an almost break neck purposeful nod, supersport to supersport I reckon.
So does one only nod to the equivalent style of bike one is riding at the time, be all moody and nod to no fooker, mean and menacing, or nod to all regardless?

Finally the awkward one, I pull up at lights beside a chap on a , will he acknowledge? I give him my best alright mate nod, he's mean, open faced lid, shades and big tache, but he nods in a friendly manner, happy days, now the awkward bit - whilst still waiting for the green light, I think - do we race now after our brotherly stop and greet?????
The answer is YES, I remember the ZXR has no manners whatsoever and let the cheeky little fooker do its thing.

everyone else i turn my head, if they nod, i nod...there is a pecking order...

Another interesting point, the scooter, I must admit I do not nod to scooter riders, are we including vespas in scooter territory, because I do not think I could cross this bridge.

Problem is this, I don't nod to a scooter, next day I nod to a CBR600 etc, it might be the same person.

I avoid nodding to pizza delivery riders....everyone else gets one.

I nod to most people, not L plate riders though. When I had my rs125 I rode to the local shop to grab some L plates, all the bikers nodded, about 6 people. Got my L plates, as I was pulling out of tescos, saw a biker, I nodded at him and he just looked at the L plate on my mudguard and just looked away! Then after I passed my test about 3 days later someone on a moped with L plates nodded at me and I didn't nod back felt like a right arsehole, that was me 3 days ago!

Snobbery is rife in the world of motorcycles...............a prime example here in Northern Ireland is the BMW club...................not BMW owners but actual members of the club......................tossers the lot of them.

I could tell a story or two about them.

Last time I was in France just about every biker I saw gave a two fingers pointing down with palm to the front wave with their left hand.............easy when riding on the right. Took me a while to cop on that it was friendly................no idea what it means really.


Generally the vast bulk nod or something...........it's only the twats that don't.......................same in life generally I suppose.

Mean and moody though, and lets face it, the most consistent method, I was going to adopt it until Cargo changed my views

the really nice guys take the time to go speak with fellow bikers and say hello nice bike I've got one of those myself....................

Interestingly complete strangers never walk up to me and demand detailed information on how to find parts/diagnose faults/or ask how do I do that.

but give them an online forum.........................

I met one of those nice biker chaps at the Milestone, went just like you say too, funniest thing is, you know him well.

That's one thing I love about bikers, I broke down at the side of the road a couple of months ago, bike wouldn't start, 30ish cars went past, including my next door neighbour, not one stopped and even asked "are you alright?", see a bike go past, 30 seconds later hear it again, guy had turned round and come back and even gave me a hand bumping my bike. Or one of the funniest ones had to be when I used to go out on my crosser, taught mum how to ride a bike and she broke down, this guy stopped, asked if she was alright and then came and found me even though I was about 2 miles away at this point

I stopped to help a guy once and ended up giving him and his bike a ride home........................I was driving my van at the time.

He had a smile a mile wide.......................
