Will this deffo happen as Elvington are having all sorts of bother with court injunctions at the minute as someone who has moved in next to the circuit doesn't like the noise. Auto66 club have cancelled all this year's races there while it's sorted out.

From the club -

CANCELLED MEETING AT ELVINGTON - 25TH MARCH

Many apologies to anyone that was supporting the above event, which unfortunatley had to be cancelled on the Friday due to five court orders being served on the land owner from noise problems created last year. We rang or emailed everyone we knew who had entered and all the marshals who had confirmed their attendance plus as many regular spectators as possible but im afraid there were quite a few turned up which we must apologise to. We were advised by our legal people not to make any press statements until they had time to study the position properly on monday. The outcome is that we still hope to use Elvington but until the problems are resolved with York City Council the Club have decied to cancel the remaining two meetings on May 6th and June 10th. The Club are still hoping to run the sprint in October but a decision will be taken on this at the end of August giving everyone plenty of warning.

The club have been using Elvington airfield for 45 years this year and it is a great shame it has come to this position as it is the only venue in Yorkshire where youngsters can come and learn their skills. In recent years the Lowe Brothers, Daniel Lindfoot from Knaresborough and James Westmoreland from Hull have all graduated through the ranks to become members of top international race teams. This has been the case for a lot of years with Phil Mellor, Nick Jeffries going on to TT fame and of course local rider Steve Webster who started his career at Elvington and went on to become multi world champion in the sidecar class .

It will be a sad day if Elvington cannot continue as the Auto66 have ploughed alot of money into encouraging youngsters to compete.

Similar thing happened up my neck of the woods too - knobheads moved in near Croft Circuit and surprise surprise - they don't like the sound of the race track that was already there!! Several court injunctions later and now there's next to bugger all on at Croft Circuit. BSB aren't going there this year because of it - a masssive shame as I was going to take the kids to see it as it's a fantastic opportunity to see some quality racing right on our doorstep (it's only 15 mins away from my house) but as usual, arrogant NIMBY's move into rural areas and want everything their way and to hell with who and what were already there. :smt013 :rant
