whilst out with a friend of mine he wanted my to get infront to lead the way so i speeded up a little bit and then as i got infront of him i noticed there was a mobile speed camera van, i was doing just over 30mph and the man behind the camera just seem to look at mine and my mates bike as we went by. can you get done by mobile speed cameras that catch you from the front? as there are no number plates?

Sorry for the dum question but still new to biking confuddled

If you were only doing just over 30mph, then I doubt it...
The threshold is roughly 36mph I believe?

He was probably just impressed by your bikes :P

Depends, obviously if there is a camera on the front of the van, then they CAN get you...
Otherwise if it is only the rear camera, then you are fine.

I know these vans often have cctv on the side, not sure if they have cameras on the front as well...

all depends if he got the numberplate really. And 36mph is probably the guidelines which do not apply everywhere, over 30 is over 30 and they can do you for it, or they can exercise a bit of discression, which i think in your they way well do. But you will never be sure until 14 days after are up.

Yes you can and plenty of people have been. They use the camera evidence to prove you were speeding and they take the word of the operator who reads your numberplate manually. If you want to dispute it they have a nice picture of you and your bike speeding and it's up to you to prove you weren't there at that time.

You won't get off at 36 in a 30. A few mph over you may do but at 36 you are likely to be offered a speed awareness course at roughly £90 to avoid 3 points. You would be unwise to take points if you're offered a course as all insurers are now loading premiums for ANY points - plus it's 3 less to play with if you get caught again.

If you haven't had a letter by a fortnight you're ok.
