Hi,

Ive notive recently that my bikes' throttle response is not very instant i.e. theres a bit of a lag before it accerates. I assume this is just due to age?

Also What can I do to regain some BHP? Obviously there is ugrading air filter... etc and Ive been told I should take my bike to a garage and get it re-tuned?

What is involved in tuning and what does it change on the bike?

Cheers.

Before you waste money on all that lot, have you tried balancing the carbs? That gives exactly the symptoms you mention and it's a lot cheaper to sort. ZXR400s throw their carbs out of balance about as quickly as they go through tyres.

If you intend keeping the bike for some time (or owning carburated multi-cylinder bikes) a set of carb gauges is a must. Save you loads in the long run and you can keep your bikes running sweet as a nut. Turns a bike running like toad into a rocket in less than half an hour.

And whats more, we even have a guide to tell you how to do it.
