Just been reading in a back issue of Practical Sportsbike mag that Kwak's policy is to delete spare parts after 10 years unless they are carried forward to another bike. Is this correct? And if it is, for those of us interested in running these bikes for some years to come, might it be worth keeping an eye on NOS bargains etc. to build up a stock of parts which we are realistically likely to need in future? You see this done by many who run classic bikes. The parts eventually end up worth more than you paid for them and if surplus to requirements can be sold on to others.

Ive heard this before, and its true some of the H model parts cant be had anymore, but i dare say they are in stock somewhere in a wharehouse till they are all gone?

Not had any problems getting a part for the L model though.

Same for all vehicles in Japan, domestic law says they must hold parts for 10yrs then after that they have no obligation to do so. Can't remember the time sclae but say after 6 months a part isn't ordered it goes out of production and your down to factory stock.

Have bought several parts that were the last !

think with the amount of business we send cradleys way they will be stocking parts for zxr400s for a while.

Thing is though Baz, they can't stock what isn't being made any more. Once their stock is gone, it's gone. I wouldn't expect a major problem for some years with the sort of things that go regularly, as stock levels for those are liable to be high, but the stuff that is hardly ever ordered is probably down to one or two on the shelf. Stuff like bodywork, tanks etc. will most probably be the first stuff to be unobtainable. I seem to remember reading that forks are already like hen's teeth.

Yep but if they keep re-ordering stuff then it looks like things are in demand and they keep getting made hopefully!
