Want a Brand New ZXR?

Then look no further than

Just chanced across this while looking for something else. Pretty amazing, eh? Not sure about paying top whack, though, for what is effectively an 'old' bike, just hasn't actually been used. Why would you want to pay such a high premium rather than a lot less for a low mileage 2nd hand?
Not interested myself but might have a rideout on a nice day just to have gander

I've been watching their website and keeping an eye on what they have for sale.
Some very interesting bikes for sale and a trip out to visit the showroom would not be wasted.
I've got a mate that lives nearby and I sent him down there to look at a bike for me a few weeks back he was impressed too

I'm pretty sure that was the list price when it was new - well, it still is new, but you know what I mean
I suppose that when a bike becomes sought after the right price is whatever someone will pay for it. What I'd be worried about though is that, if it is 'worth' 6k it is only going to remain 'worth' that if you don't ride it. Once you put some miles on it you've immediately got just another low mileage 2nd hand ZXR on your hands, worth maybe a third of that

So the only person who might buy this is going to keep it in museum condition. Unless they're daft.
It's nice for us who have them that these bikes are gaining iconic status and becoming more, rather than less, desirable with time. I remember when I bought mine in 1994 there wasn't that much of a buzz around them, and as far as racing went they weren't the tool to have. Those who raced them in the Island didn't seem to do particularly well. IIRC the 400 to have was the Yam. How times have changed!

Dont forget that "new" bike price will include taxes VAT etc and so is not a true reflection of it's value.
There is no doubt that the ZXR400 is gaining cult status and as time passes good clean low mielage ones will grow in value. It's not there yet by any means but eventually.
Sadly the Yamaha 400 is still the 400 to have for racing.................but any of the quick ones that I know of have had huge sums of money spent on them.
Parts for the Yamaha are much much harder to get than a ZXR..............I know the one I rode had a knackered gearbox and Yamaha cant supply any parts.
The guy that owned it was facing a huge bill for some aftermarket gearbox.
So while the ZXR mught not be on the same level as the Yamaha when it come to value for money the ZXR wins every time as an all round package.

Aint that due to the fact the Yam can be taken out to about 475cc compared the the zx at about 440 ????
