Woohoo! Managed to scrape enough pennies together to book a seat on the ferry for friday 4th june to see fridays practice and qualifying, and then saturdays superbike TT! I can't foooookin wait :D i've had to book as a foot passenger to keep cost down so unfortunately i wont be taking the bike, and i'll be pretty much limited to how far i can stray from douglas but i don't mind... I'm going to the TT!! hehe!

There is an excellent bus service on the IOM so getting around is no problem............................for drinking and having fun Douglas is the place to be.

But for watching practise and racing you really need to get further afield.

I'm guessing you've never been before ?

If your there on Friday night for practise go watch at the bottom of Bray Hill in Douglas you will be stunned at what you see there and it will change your perception of speed forever.

Then sign on as a marshall it takes about 30 minutes you can do it and take in a visit to the paddock at the grandstand......................then get yourself out to Gorse Lea the guys at the marshals office will show you on a map where it is........the bus goes right past it. Go see the marshals on the marshals post tell em you know me and I promise you a great day....................you'll be a trainee and they wont ask too much of you but the marshals post there is an awesome place to watch flatout full stick righthander it will scare the living toad out of you....................but you will love it...........

The marshals at Gorse Lea are all friends of mine they are a good bunch.................ask nicely and you'll even get a lift back to Douglas after racing is over never mind the cakes buns coffee and really good company.....................

I'm jealous as hell

Haha! That sounds freakin awesome! Yes it is my first time and if i had planned this a bit better and was spending more than one night there i would definately do that. I was planning on going alone so i would have actually done that cargo, but my mate who i'm dragging along with me now doesn't really know much about bikes and is just looking forward to a good piss up so i doubt he'll be up for the marshalling.

Looks like i'll be camping at Glenlough Farm between Union Mills and Glen Vine. I would prefer to camp closer to Douglas to be honest, but i cant find out details for any campsites around that area. I want to stay at the campsite at quarterbridge (i think its the rugby fields) but i couldn't find a phone number for them. I rang regency travel just to find out how much quarterbridge was and they said i had to book for a minimum of 5 nights! I think they wer just trana rip me off.

If you have any info/suggestions cargo, that would be really helpful. Cheers.

I've not stayed at Glenlough but all I hear about it is good...............with excellent showers etc etc

The bus stop is right at the gate so if your heading into Douglas or out towards Gorse Lea or further its very handy. The nearest pub is about 20 minutes brisk walk
You can watch the practise and racing from the campsite as it's on the course......................it's VERY fast there and so is the next corner on the course it's called Ballagarey but we all call it Ballascary as in very scary.

A lot of places wont take you just for one night even hotels or B&Bs so I'm not surprised that Quarterbridge campsite are asking for 5 night minimum.

As a mad solution to your problem you could just stay in Douglas and spend the night drinking all night long then doss down in a hotel TV romm or something...............I've done this managed to sleep in a sauna for 3 nights before they caught me.................one night one the piss would be easy

When you get off the ferry there is a good tourist info place they will be able to give you a bus timetable the bus station is just 2 minutes walk away.

I'd be happy to chat on the phone if you like.......................... pm me and I'll ring you

Well for plan A i think Glenlough sounds like a prety safe bet, especially for my first TT, and for plan B if it all goes tits up...

....this is actually what i was thinking! haha!

I rang Glenlough and they said they would take us for just one night no problem. He said i didnt even need to book, just turn up on the day. And at least i know now that we'r on a fast part of the circuit, etc, with easy access either way round the circuit and to douglas. So i think we'll just do that. I can't wait, i'm proper excited! :D

Cheers for your help cargo, i will ring you if need be.
