batt keeps going dead.

hi everyone i need help. this is my first time on forum.
my bike has not moved in about 8 months due to an accident at work, but its time to get back on the road
i need to find out if my battery is done or something else is wrong.
its a 1991 model. after charging batt the bike starts and will tick over but when i turn it off it wont start again and it just keeps clicking and then nothing.
in truth i know nothing about the workings of the bike even though i have owned it for 6 years
cash is a little short at the minute so any help would be great

Hi brian and welcome to ZXRworld

Sounds liek the battery isnt holding charge so you probably need a new one. Having sat for 8 months its probably deeply discharged, even putting it on a long slow charge it wont hold it for long.

You can pick a half decent battery up on ebay, i bought on last september and still going strong even through the harsh winter!

p.s. you need a CTX9-BS battery

plenty on ebay at the moment, ive just checked. Yours for 20 quid plus postage

really hope thats all it is. will be buying a new batt on friday. its the same one in it from i bought the bike so no doubt its time for a change...

new battery put in tonight and she is flying again im glad to say
still life in the old girl yet
