Hello there i've just joined this site as i have just bought a Kawasaki ZXR400 SP, and i am trying to find out whether anyone knows how much these bikes are worth as there is very little information about them on the internet. I am also trying to find out if any one knows any good sites where i can obtain information about this particular model, as i have not found much info as of yet.........cheers wez

hard to say, to me an SP doesn't ring my bells so a G reg zxr400 H model a little bit special, maybe £1300 - £1500? aint many about which is why there's not much info on them.see what the rest think when they wake up.

Re: anyone know anything about the zxr 400sp
id say £1200-1800 odd if all the SP stuff is in good condition, and still has all the correct SP parts on there.
Looks lovely though fella would f'in love one

Re: anyone know anything about the zxr 400sp
Only two things i notice are:
No "Sport production" decals on the lowers and No SP forks.
Apart from that looks very clean

Nothing worse than having an H and not being able to scratch it !

Possibly a front end accident damaged bike then.

Re: anyone know anything about the zxr 400sp
nah, its a j1 init. they dont have the comp adjusters on the bottom of the forks, but they do differ internally than regular h1 forks.
they also dont have flatslides, not until a year later with the j2. but again, the cv carbs are different to the standard h1 cvs. they do have a close ratio box and the adjustable cams( i think?)
all in all, not as valuable as the L and H2 sp models, but a well cool and maybee even rarer bike. nice one.
also, there is a wealth of info in that search function. might take a while to dig it up, but there is lots in there

Re: anyone know anything about the zxr 400sp
HERE IS ANOTHER PIC OF THE BIKE WHEN I FIRST GOT IT ALL DIRTY LOL ...it does say h1 on the log book and i spoke to a very helpfull guy on here that ran me through a few things its ment to come with flatside carbs but these are always the first to go as they are worth £450+ i havnt had chance to lift the rocker box and check to see if the cams have an adjuster but i will and it does not say sports production on the front but then again i cant find a genuine pic of a h1 sp anywhere to reference it if anyone could find one that would be helpfull again thanks everyone ........wez

Re: anyone know anything about the zxr 400sp
nah mate. they dont have flatslides. h1(j1) have cvs. I know as i have a set from a j1, as well as the rest of the bike.
the j2 frame also differs from the j1 frame. the j2 has an extra lug to attach something to do with the flatslides...dunno what it is, ive never had flatslides. And the j1 frame is the same as a h1.
I really like the j1 forks, and have them in my bike over the j2 ones i have. they feel great.
I am pretty sure the j1 has adjustable cams and close box tho...
most importantly what does it ride like
search button is our friend! there is pictures of a h1sp somewhere

Re: anyone know anything about the zxr 400sp
well i have owned all models of zxr,s 750,s h1 and l1 models also a vfr 400 nc30 and a kr1s and the zxr 400 is by far the best feeling bike ive ridden so far it feels so planted under me that i cant help but give it some stick lol its got long gears but does not drop by more than a 1000rpm when changing gears yeah im well impressed by it and with a price tag of lets say well under £500 im a happy chappy lol

Re: anyone know anything about the zxr 400sp
yeah i would just like to know whether or not it hass the sp engine and so a very helpfull guy on here informed me theres only one way to check and thats to take the rocker box off and look to see if the cams are adjustable but he did also say that they came with flatsides as standered the forks are USD forks but theres no adjuster at the bottom of the fork leg but so i hear there rare forks from another zxr and never came with the h1 dunno really what to say about the decals on the front fairing it must have had paint at some point but its all been checked and never involved in an accident im so rambling now lol cheers

Re: anyone know anything about the zxr 400sp
I stand to be corrected but every SP model thats passed through my hands had a 16 tooth front sprocket that would give an indication of it having a close ratio gearbox.
