Anyone done it, to make the zxr more of a streetfighter style of bike ?
Is it as simple as buying the bars / the top mounts and just drilling the existing top yoke to accept the risers ?
have seen a few custom ones on ebay that have already got teh top mounts on them, from germany, but looking at £80 odd

pretty much what you say provided there is sufficient material underneath the yoke, can't remember what the underside of the zxr yoke looks like? otherwise go for a ABM top yoke conversion but very much doubt you can get one for a zxr400?

sweet - will just drill the top yoke, as they are easy to come by if i need a replacement at any poin, and the custom ones are alot more £££
am thinking about cone air filters too - wondering if I can get pipes that will fit to the existing air flow holes (in the petrol tank) and attaching the cone filters directly to them , removing the internal one in the air box ???
any thoughts on that ? or is there a better way to upgrade the air filter ??

fit a pipercross filter, or a new OE one, and run it pretty dry.
