Just had a poke through the manual and you need to measure resistance across the black/yellow wire (ground), and, black (+v). iirc the connector is under the airbox between the headstock and top of the engine. You could try wiring directly to the battery to see if it works too.

Alternatively, connect up the wires down by the radiator and measure the voltage across the connector where the fan plugs in, you should see 12v on the blue/white wire. Theres a wiring diagram on page 15-29 of the electrical system section in the manual.

Mine doesn't look like this....On my sensor there is nothing on the left hand side of the thread......

you have an L model? maybe yours has corroded off? or got damaged in the past?
Don't forget people there is more to the zxr400 than this forum... check out www.zxrworld.co.uk also.

Yea i have an L model, but it worked before i stripped it down and that end bit wasn't there, maybe it fell off into the radiator when i removed the sensor....
Which maybe what caused the fuse to blow and possibly the fan motor to go as touchin the wires does nothing. The sensor doesn;t look corroded at all, it looks like the end bit has just fallen out, buggger lol.
