Hi mate - this diagram does work- it is a redraw if the the one in the kit manual. I have made two looms from it from existing looms - dead easy. The only fasteners needed (assuming the existing loom is OK) will be for the resistor. You will need soldering iron etc for cable joins. Course if going for a complete new build then that is different.

If you dont need the genie cables then remove em. My only advise if working on an existing loom is to work from the back end of the loom forward. I find that cleaning up the back end makes the whole job of sorting the loom out much easier - and much quicker!!!

Im keen to give it a go as last year i melted a loom together due to a faulty coil and wrong fuse, so need to get to grips with electrics.
Im going for a new build cos im moving the coils up front, and possibly the cdi to if it works out well.
My other problem is ive got scitcu rev counter and temp gauge to use, does anyone know how these wire in?
The rev counter looks like it may have only one wire?

Not sure about the scitsu but my coils are up front and the wiring from the original loom is plenty long enough if run down the LHS of the bike

There are two types of Scitsu.....................one is hard wired into the loom and gets it's 12v supply from the bike battery

the other has it's own internal battery and needs to be charged from a 12v source using a charging lead that comes with it.

The one with it's own battery has a single black wire leading from it and a small jack plug scocket where the charging lead goes. The single black wire needs to be cable tied along the length of the HT lead on two cylinders from different coils...............that last bit is from memory. I'm sure there is a website for the guy that makes/sells/services them.

TBH I found the rechargeable one a real pain in the ar5e..................eventually it wouldn't hold a charge...........I paid to have it serviced but it only lasted one more season in the end I got a hard wired one................BTW I'm talking about having it one my old CBR600 steely.............still got it.

I'm very happy with the rev counter supplied by Mr Kawasaki

Is the regulator only used for charging the battery & if so just rip her out yeh? Cheers!

Lachie - if you are going total loss (no genie) then the regulator isnt doing anything and can be removed.

ps - I found the photos from the testing day - bad news for you and me - we arent in any of em!!

It's on a taper and there is a key as well.
You need a puller....................bit of heat would help.

Can anyone advise on the wiring going into the cdi please.
I havent got a standard loom to compare to, so not sure which colour wire goes to which terminal.
I can work it out from the diagram, as it does not show upper or lower terminals.
could anyone put a number to them for me? like left plug,right plug, 1,2,3,4 top,bottom kinda thing?

another thing im not clear on. If i was to use the blue uk cdi, would i still need to wire in the resistor?
and ( one for zimm or greville or anyone else using the programable cdi) would i need to have said resistor in place for this?

Not good! Wired the race loom with total loss, the bike seems to be turning over but not as fast as it used to, as if the battery was dying infact! The only thing I think it could be is that I used a 0.5 watt instead of a 0.25 watt resistor, surely this wouldnt be the problem tho? Only 6 days till my first race..... not good!!! cheers!
