next bike ?

Post by TheG »

Hey new to this forum, anyway iv been on a cbr 125 for just over a year and im getting pretty bored of it now, i can scrape my feet on the floor when going round corners

the zxr400 just seems perfect, i passed my test in july and been looking at bigger bikes ever since, i wanted something sporty and due to my age any 600cc sports bike is out of the question, the 400 is affordable for insurance.

what are the engines like ? i know there very revy and iv seen several bikes on ebay with the words "engine has been rebuilt" due to whatever.... why are these engines needed to be rebuilt all the time ?

parts they dont make the bike anymore so parts must be hard to find ? what about service parts are they still ok to get hold of ?

my bikes terrible for taking pillions, pillion is forever headbutting me and marking the helmet constantly, does the bike still go quick in a straight line with someone on the back ? mostly be taking women anyway and they WONT be heavy :)

been looking on ebay generally going for £900-£1500 on average so with that money should i be able to get a decent one ?

thanks

i would asume that the "engine rebuilds" are for racing, but i could be wrong.
and these engines ave either done alot of miles or never been used to no doubt they will ave been rebuilt for them reasons, remeber this bike is an old bugger lol

i take my lady on the back of mine often and it still pulls like a mofo lol but apparently there not very comfortable from the back, up to u weather thats an issue.

parts are piss easy to get hold of, from ebay with its endless supply of spares, kwak direct or here on this forum where people sell there old parts all the time etc...

i find that this issue is solved with driving better lol

900-1500 is gud money to be puttin out there, unless its got low milage and full history and looks dintless/scratchless etc, then dont pay any more than about 1400 i keep being told.

best of luck in the hunt!

Hi there are no reasons why they have been rebuilt just says engine rebuilt etc etc

so you can buy parts direct from the kawasaki dealers ? thought they didnt make new parts anymore

Pillion will just have to be uncomfy lol cant be any worse than my bike

the reason for headbutting is some cases my riding but often because my bikes tiny and there is no distance between you and the person behind lol

quite a few nice bikes on ebay popping up

ask them if they dont say why,
theres a million different reasons why a engine would need rebuilding, or maybe they just felt like it lol

but ive started on a 50, then a 125, then a 250 and now my 400 and i dont think im going any higher for a very long time lol

i love my zxr and it was by far the best thing i have eva bought! lol but thats just me ;)

if its cheap enough i dont mind having the engine rebuilt, can you get hold of new engine parts from kawasaki dealers ?

i just dont want a shed thats got scuffs on it and looked like its been ran in the rain all its life, i can do a fair bit of restoring, can you get the original paint for this model below ?

if not can you get the current zx6r/10r kawasaki green paint ?
