Anyone Tried TCX S-Race Boots?

Post by Tirpitz »

Got a crappy old pair of Frank Thomas race boots in bright red (hang on, they were the dog's 20 years ago when I bought them :smt004 ) which simply cannot be allowed out in public any longer. Her indoors says I look a clown too. And to be fair the level of protection isn't up to modern standards, they don't fit brill and I've had my money's worth. So, really like the look of TCX Race-S boots (Black and blue :smt004 ). Cheapest I've found them is £119.99, which is a whopping reduction on the £179.99 RRP here http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Speedstyle-Mot ... 581&_pgn=2 That's at Squires bike cafe so no probs going for a gander.

Anyone tried them, or any others in the TCX range?

I have a pair of thier boots but they are touring ones, so can comment on those specifically

had them a year now and they have stood up to daily use so i would expect that most of thier products would perform equally as well, they are gore tex too and 100% water proof, in fact they came 'RiDE' reccomended. Only complaint i do have is the rivets have gone rusty, but i wouldnt let that put you off.

My owd chap has the TCX Competizione boots and he bloody hates them, says there the most uncomfortable boots he's owned and they creek like a giraffe!!!!
But, everyone is different and what fits 1, wont necessarily fit another. I have a pair of Alpinestar Supertec r's and they are without doubt the most comfy thing ive EVER worn on my feet, not the cheepest on the market but IMO sooooooo worth it.

Good and bad there then :smt017 Sounds like the build quality isn't being questioned but I'm going to need to check I find them comfy - which is what I was going to do anyway, wasn't going to buy unseen off the web.

Yeah, I thought about Alpinestars but I've had a lot of bad reports from dealers about their stuff. Several have complained to me that they get more Alpinestars returns than any other brand, all with genuine faults which have to replaced under warranty. I was pointed away from their stuff and TBH the alternative brands they recommended have so far been bang on. So it's kinda put me off their stuff.

I've heard that about Alpinestars aswell, but ive had 2 pairs of their boots and 2 pairs of their gloves and they've been great IMO. Tried using a set of AStars leathers once though, bloody awful!!!!!

Right, finally got around to some shopping. And I didn't buy the TCXs. Didn't like the fit at all, ok on the ankle but way too sloppy around the rest of the foot, which was the whole point of getting something new. Guy in the shop recommended I try a pair of Dainese ST TRQ Race Pro and although I wasn't really that interested at firast, owing to the price difference (£189.99 for the Dainese) I was sold as soon as I put them on. Fit like a glove, superb level of protection and I suspect you gets what you pays for.

Anyway, have to have a few rides with them then I'll do a review in the appropriate place.
