I need help
I recently fell off my bike and am really struggling to find a nose cone and a right hand side fairing for the zxr 400 H1 89/90 model standard colour. Does anybody know the best place to get them ? I have tried ebay and a lot of breakers with no joy. I am willing to buy an after market full fairing kit if any body knows a site that will do them ?. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I want to get my bike up and running before the summer flys by on me

Re: I need help
I can certainly pick you one up - send plastics out all over the place.
Still have my original cowl but it does have damage - look at my post when I originally got the bike
But can soon find you another

Re: I need help
Found a really clean Red one - original ABS with no crash damage
Should work out at about 12,000 + shipping (94 GBP)
or
I do have a very good Lime Green in stock but its earmarked as my spare - non of these cowls are available new so I am reluctant to sell.
Factor in what you need to spend to get one and have it resprayed if not the right colour and we will
out a price but no promises !
My damaged one you can have for shipping - it's just gathering dust after all.

Re: I need help
Hi I have posted a wanted add, I rang barton motors today and they said they've been discontinued :smt013 cheers for the heads up though.
Thanks Tom is that he black 1 ?, I seen that was going to bid on it but would make it a lot easier if I got one the same color.
Mori do you mean you would be able to get me the side fairing ?
. What kinda damage does your nose cone have ?, I tried looking through your posts and got side tracked by the one where you have done your bike right up, she looks awesome mate. Thanks mate how much would shipping be to the north west of the UK, or what would you want for your good green 1
. I can pm you my mobile number if it's easier for you to contact me that way bud
P.S mori please can you tell me what process you used to get your frame down that clean and do you have to coat it with something if you keep it like that ?. also what did you do with your wheels to strip them down and get them to that good of a finish ?. I'm thinking of cleaning mine up over the winter after seeing the job you have done on yours. Cheers all for the replys

Re: I need help
I do still have my old side cowls too - again they are damaged and I was in the process of repairing when I got another set. Again your welcome to them for postage as they do still need repaired. If I can find the images on my HDD I will post up here.
Three classes of shipping - express , expensive but 3~4 days / EcoAir about 20% cheaper and 2~3 weeks or SeaMail at ~12 weeks but mostly half the price of EcoAir.
Its all weight related but next time I get an opportunity to pull it out the store room I will weigh it up. Still on the fence about the good ones - soz , I have two
One has a very small scuff on the leading edge on the left - a dab with a touch up pen is in order , the other has a fine hairline crack on the left indicator mount, when its all fitted up its really not seen and I would zip it up at the back with my soldering iron. I still cant decide which one to keep so thats why I still have both
I stripped both the frame, swinger and wheels with industrial nitromors - a FRP body shop should be able to supply or coachworks supplier. You can get polishing mops for an angle grinder and you use them with polishing soaps. Start with a stitched mop to do heavy cutting then a loose nmop and finaly a felt mop and you use different grades of soap for each too - the felt uses just a polish soap. In the UK I found an industrial supplier to companies and bought the kit from there. Try some DIY places - you never know.
I dont do much to the frame - gets a spray wax with the rest of the bike when I do it and sometimes I get the metal polish out and remove some blood stains etc - I use "Never dull" but in UK that was called " Duraglit " cotton wadding in a can. RAF uses much the same thing to polish cockpit shields so its good enough for my bike - do not use on plastic ! Cockpits are Glass.
Wheels are sprayed out of cans with a oil/petrol/UV safe hard clear top coat

Re: I need help
Cool are they easy to repair ?, if so do you know how would I go about fixing them ?. 3-4 days sounds good
how expensive am I looking at roughly for all the parts to be delivered ?. hahaha don't sit on the fence 2 long MM u could end up with splinters in a bad place lol, I'd rather have one of the good nose cones then I can put em straight on
, but if you can't be persuaded to part with one and you reckon the free one can be fixed up and brought back to a good standard then that will do. I just want to get her up and running and get some rides in before our summer goes
.
Cheers for the heads up on the stripping/paint info my winter is now going to be spent in a shed getting high off spray fumes and looking at a stripped down bike
.
Once the frame is down to the bare metal do you just clean it or spray it with the wax or spray it with a clear laquor ?.
You don't have any spare washer/mushrooms for the fairings do you in your aladdins cave of bike parts
If you can hit me with a price and tell us how best to pay you I can send it out cheers mate.
