air tubes........

are there any benefits from the air intake tubes?..as they dont really provide any positive pressure(ram air) .or do they?....is anyone running without them?....just throwing this out there to gauge people's thought's....apologies if this is an old question/topic...

they do direct some degree of cool air into the area of the actually air inlet..............but really IMHO they are cosmetic

What i am about to suggest should obviously be done on private land, runway, track etc etc :smt002

get your bike nicely warmed up, get to 115/120mph
Pull over, pull the air tubes out from the tank cover and cable tie them out the way to the screen brace.
try for 120mph again.

see if there is any difference in power, speed etc etc

Try it, find out.............

To force air through the rad isnt the only reason they have fans on dynos

Notwithstanding CaNsA's excellent reason for keeping the tubes, here's another. At least 90% of the people who come and talk to me about my bike and wish they had a ZXR absolutely love the tubes. Cost = pennies. Bling Factor = better than an Ohlins shock.

And then he rubs injury into insult by reminding us that in Norn Irlan they have real road racing to watch all year round, whereas on the mainland we get Scarborough (which only just qualifies) 3 times a year and a load of boring merry-go-round short circuits instead :smt012 Cheers Cargo.
