i have a mint 01 zxr 400r sp for sale, k and n fiter, jetted, r an g crash mushrooms , clear led indictors alround, full art racing exhaset system, only after bein all set up an tuned on the roll an road, michealen pilot tyres, 17,000miles on the bike, i have a restricter cert to go with the bike to, its a geniune mint sp, what do ye think i sould be asking for her??

dont wanna upset you, but i wouldnt pay 3K with the extras and non standard parts. Id struggle to part with 3K even if it was all original.

It is worth exactly what the buyer is prepared to pay for it and not a penny more.


I've looked at your ad and all I see is a ZXR 400 with a SP seat unit......................where's the beef ?

I gave you a perfectly good civil and accurate answer to your question.

And yes if someone offers you 500 Euro then yes that is what it is worth to him or her..................just because you place great value on your bike doesnt make it valuable to anyone else my statement in my orginal post is 100% accurate and true.

As to the beef if I was selling a SP I would include in the ad some evidence to show that it is actually a SP your ad has some pictures of a L model with a single seat unit...............nothing more.

As you can see I have edited your post as a moderator on this forum I dont have to take that sort of abuse from anyone and I would not expect other forum users to have to take it either.................given the hour of your post I will put it down to a drop too much Guinness in some south side Dublin pub and make no more of it unless of course you want to ?

Well it looks as if its adjustable front and back from the pics. What people will be really interested in are the flatslide carbs and adjustable cams. The SP seat unit and adjustable suspension are just the tip of the iceberg. And even if you have flat slide carbs and adjustable cams fitted, theres still the issue of the gear box as to weather thats the genuine SP box.

Cargo raises a good point about value, though. Like i said, 'I' wouldnt pay 3K for it, based purely on what ive seen them sell for over the last god knows how many years ive been on this forum, ive just never seen one sell for as much as that.

I paid £1750 for a 1997 SP it was about 9 years old when I bought it.
It was a runner not in perfect nick but clean enough and "honest".......................it was also a genuine SP with all the SP bits there to see.

I torn it to pieces kept and used all the SP goodies in my race bikes also I kept anything that was a useful race spare and sold the rest.....................hard to be certain but I reckon my very lovely SP parts cost me a lot less than buying them individually off ebay or wherever................and it took a while to flog off the rest of it..............still some of it left...............but it was well worth it.................I got good value............ it was a good deal at the price I paid.

Was it worth £1750................maybe it was The seller was happy he knew what he had and he got a price he agreed to.


As a practical road bike I dont rate the SP as being hugely better than a CV carbed bike in fact there is good reason to say that as a road bike the CV carbed bike is better.
The real value in a SP is to those of us who race ZXRs......................
