Post by wildkid »

Just bought a zxr400L 1999 44,000 kmph for £1000 custom paintjob which is registered to the logbook (yellow looks rather tidy), was wondering if i got a good deal for the price? engine is sweet as no problems at all
ive just purchased a new mph clocks and a UK M Cdi, will this be fine for it and how easy is it to change?
i need to buy a restrictor kit but dont wana buy for the rediculous price of 172squid from FI international, any help?
Cheers (heres a pic)

A grand for that is a really really good deal mate.
That good a deal i would be taking the bike straight to my local bike grease monkey and getting him to check it out.

@44000 Km..... i would be worried about the HG about to blown if it hasnt already.

Get it to a garage and checked out.

But that is very very very nice.

Get it checked though, im serious. If you leave it you could end up having to spend a fortune.

Should be a straight swap, but wait for cleverererer people to confirm this as there might be a rev limiter

I think its the full power one, i sold a spare i had that was the same.
Its a straight swap

Mine had a tail tidy, the under tray was cut to make it fit.

Depends on the grease monkey, if you chat to other bikers in your area to see who they know and who they trust then they might take you up there and ask the dude to have a listen etc etc

I know a dude here (liverpool) who will listen to any bike, using mad headfones....., and a couple of other easy checks and tell you what it needs then give you an initial quote. This dude also builds his own sidecar race rigs for the IOMTT. He is very very good at what he does.

Its all about finding the ride dude who knows his stuff.

Excellent looking bike but then I'm biased what you have there is a Team Cargo replica all you need is a #96 on it and your there.

A grand for a 1999 ZXR is defo a good deal

Swaping the speedo and CDI is easy............. very easy and by doing so you will remove the factory restrictions. However given that the bike seems to have been well looked after and that it comes with a very nice paint job it occurs to me that maybe the factory restrictions have already been removed or overcome. So I would be checking to see if it has already been done before spending any money.

As for you licence and the 33hp restriction you will need the little inlet plates that restrict the gas flow into the engine somewhere on the forum is a drawing with dimensions that would allow you to make your own.

Enjoy the bike it looks great...............if I get any #96 stickers made this year I'll send you one
